Assassin's Creed Hexe Could Bring Back Ezio Auditore

Assassin's Creed Hexe could feature the return of Ezio Auditore, according to previously reported leaks suggesting that Ubisoft considered bringing the iconic Assassin back in a new story role.

The rumors originated in May 2026, when alleged Ubisoft insiders Rogue and j0nathan shared details about the upcoming game, including its protagonist, setting, and possible connections to the Auditore family.

An original Reddit discussion covering the leaked information suggested that Ezio could appear through an Animus memory sequence rather than as a physically present character.

The reported story would follow a young woman initially identified as Elsa, although later claims suggested that Anika might be her actual name.

According to the leaks, the protagonist may be connected to Claudia Auditore, Ezio's sister, potentially establishing a direct link between the new adventure and earlier Assassin's Creed games.

Ezio's alleged appearance would reportedly serve a mentoring purpose, allowing the character to guide the protagonist through memories or other elements of the franchise's established science-fiction mythology.

However, these details reportedly originated from unfinished development material. There is no confirmation that the character remains part of the current story.

Assassin's Creed Hexe is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal and is expected to offer a darker atmosphere than recent entries in the franchise.

Previous reports have suggested a setting connected to historical witch trials in the Holy Roman Empire, alongside a stronger emphasis on stealth and a revised combat system.

The project has also undergone creative leadership changes, with Assassin's Creed veteran Jean Guesdon taking over as creative director.

A possible 2027 release window has circulated in reports, but Ubisoft has not announced an official launch date.

For now, Ezio Auditore's return remains an unconfirmed rumor. Ubisoft has not revealed the game's final protagonist, confirmed its rumored story connections, or announced whether any familiar characters will appear.
