Baldur's Gate 3 Sales Reach 23.2 Million, Analyst Estimates
Baldur's Gate 3 has sold an estimated 23.2 million copies worldwide, generating more than $1.2 billion in revenue since its release, according to new figures from market research firm Alinea Analytics.
The estimates were shared on October 22 by Rhys Elliott, Alinea's head of market analysis, in an original post on X examining the commercial performance of Larian Studios' role-playing game.
Steam accounts for approximately 18.7 million copies, representing 80.6% of estimated sales. PlayStation 5 follows with 2.9 million copies, or 12.7%, while Xbox consoles account for another 1.6 million, or 6.8%.
Around 1.3 million Steam users purchased Baldur's Gate 3 during early access, before its full PC release in August 2023. The PlayStation 5 version arrived in September 2023, followed by Xbox Series X|S in December.
The game's audience has also remained substantial more than three years after launch.
Alinea estimates that Baldur's Gate 3 has maintained at least two million monthly active players across all platforms. In September 2026, approximately 2.2 million people played the game, with Steam accounting for 68.5% of that audience.
Daily activity reportedly ranges between 280,000 and 400,000 players. Meanwhile, nearly 200,000 Steam users, roughly 1% of the platform's player base, have spent more than 500 hours in the game.
These figures are independent market estimates rather than officially confirmed sales totals from Larian Studios. The reported $1.2 billion represents estimated revenue, not the developer's net profit after expenses.
