Bayonetta 3 PC Port Recompilation Reaches 60 FPS at 4K
Bayonetta 3 is receiving an unofficial native PC port through Witch Time, a static recompilation project that has already demonstrated gameplay at 60 FPS with support for resolutions up to 4K.
Developed by Zexyen, the project targets Windows and Linux, allowing PlatinumGames' 2022 Nintendo Switch action game to run through a custom PC runtime rather than conventional Switch emulation.
According to the developer's official Witch Time GitHub repository, the project translates the game's ARM64 instructions into C code and rebuilds essential system functions, including input, audio, file handling, and graphics. Nintendo's NVN graphics API is handled through Vulkan.
The developer reports gameplay running at 60 FPS in Tokyo and Shibuya, with 4K rendering measured on an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT. Resolution scaling also supports 1080p and 1440p, although performance will vary between systems.
Witch Time includes controller support, configurable keyboard and mouse controls, and PC graphics settings covering VSync, texture detail, anisotropic filtering, display modes, and aspect ratio.
An integrated settings panel can be opened using F1 or L3 and R3 on a controller.
Cutscenes run at 30 FPS by default, with an optional 60 FPS setting for supported scenes. Prerendered videos retain their original frame rate.
However, the project remains experimental. Occasional stuttering persists, keyboard and mouse controls require further manual testing, and full-game compatibility has not been established.
Witch Time does not include Nintendo's game files or encryption keys. It requires players to supply their own legally obtained game data.
