Big Walk Developer Explains Why Game Won't Release on Xbox
House House, the Australian studio behind Untitled Goose Game, has confirmed that its cooperative adventure game Big Walk will not be released on Xbox consoles. The decision is part of the developer's support for the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
In an official statement published on the game's website, House House explained that it decided against an Xbox release following the BDS movement's call to boycott Microsoft, which the organization has designated as a priority target.
The studio acknowledged that the decision would disappoint some players, particularly because Big Walk was designed around exploring and solving puzzles with friends. However, it stated that an Xbox version would not be considered while Microsoft or Xbox remained on the movement's boycott list.
The BDS campaign has criticized Microsoft's business relationships with the Israeli government and military. Those concerns have also attracted attention within the technology industry and prompted discussions about the company's involvement.
Big Walk launched on August 4, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. The game received positive reviews, earning a Metacritic score of 91, and sold more than one million copies during its first six days.
The cooperative adventure focuses on exploration, communication, and environmental puzzles, encouraging players to work together across a large open environment.
Despite excluding Xbox consoles, Big Walk remains available on Windows PCs through Steam.
House House has not announced any plans to reconsider its decision unless Microsoft or Xbox is removed from the BDS movement's list of boycott targets.
