Boltgun 2 Studio Auroch Digital Faces 25% Job Cuts

Auroch Digital, the developer behind Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun II, has begun a restructuring process that could affect approximately 25% of roles at the British studio, despite the positive reception of its recent games.

The Bristol-based developer announced the redundancy consultation on October 26, 2026, citing difficult market conditions across the video game industry.

The announcement follows the October 14 launch of Boltgun II and the release of Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War!, both of which the studio highlighted as examples of its team's recent work.

Auroch said the restructuring was necessary to navigate an uncertain period, while acknowledging the impact the process could have on employees.

Importantly, the company described the move as a redundancy consultation. It has not confirmed that a quarter of its workforce has already been dismissed or disclosed a final number of job losses.

The studio also appealed to other game developers to consider hiring affected employees, highlighting their experience across independent projects and AAA co-development.

Despite the planned changes, Auroch confirmed that development and post-launch support for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun II and Warhammer Survivors would continue.

According to the studio's official release announcement, Warhammer Survivors is scheduled to launch on November 10, 2026.

Auroch has not disclosed specific financial losses, sales figures, or which development teams could be affected by the restructuring.

The announcement illustrates the uncertainty facing game developers, even when recently released titles receive a positive response from players.

Further details about the final workforce impact remain pending as the consultation process continues.
