Call of Duty 2027 Will Introduce a New Series, Activision Confirms

Call of Duty 2027 is reportedly set to introduce a new sub-franchise rather than continue the Black Ops or Modern Warfare series. Activision has confirmed plans for a new branch of Call of Duty, marking a change from the familiar names that have dominated recent releases.

According to Dexerto, Activision Chief Marketing Officer Tyler Bahl discussed the company's plans during an interview with The Game Business. He confirmed that the publisher has already laid the groundwork for a future Call of Duty sub-series.

While Activision has confirmed the new direction, the 2027 release window comes from sources cited by CharlieIntel rather than a separate official announcement.

The decision follows several consecutive releases within the franchise's two most established branches. Modern Warfare II launched in 2022, followed by Modern Warfare III in 2023, Black Ops 6 in 2024, and Black Ops 7 in 2025. Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled for 2026.

Activision appears to be preparing a different direction as some players have expressed frustration with the repeated use of familiar Call of Duty names.

The upcoming game's official title, developer, setting, and story remain undisclosed. Previous reports have suggested a modern-day setting, although Activision has not confirmed those details.

Call of Duty has previously introduced standalone titles such as Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, Infinite Warfare, and Vanguard. However, the next project could establish a new series with room for future installments.

Further information about Call of Duty 2027 is expected as Activision reveals more about its plans for the franchise.
