Castlevania: Harmony of Despair Gets Native PC Port With Co-op

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair is receiving an unofficial native PC port through HarmonyRecomp, a fan-developed project that restores six-player online co-op without relying on Xbox Live.

Developer Wrexxial published the Windows recompilation on October 27, 2026, bringing Konami's 2010 Xbox Live Arcade title to modern PCs with enhanced graphics settings and replacement multiplayer services.

According to the developer's original GitHub repository, HarmonyRecomp uses the ReXGlue SDK to translate the Xbox 360 game's PowerPC executable and six character modules into native x86-64 code. Graphics, audio, and system services are handled by a Xenia-derived runtime rather than conventional Xbox 360 emulation.

The developer reports that all original stages and six base characters are playable. Graphics options include resolution scaling, anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, VSync, fullscreen settings, and an FPS counter.

Online co-op supports up to six players through local networks or virtual LAN services such as ZeroTier, Radmin VPN, and Tailscale. HarmonyRecomp replaces Xbox Live session discovery and matchmaking with its own network implementation.

The developer reports successful multiplayer testing over Tailscale, although broader compatibility and network stability remain unverified.

Downloadable content support is also implemented, allowing additional characters and chapters to be compiled from users' own packages. However, actual DLC packages have not been fully tested.

HarmonyRecomp remains a work in progress, with occasional shutdown crashes among its known issues. There is currently no prebuilt release, and users must compile the project for Windows 10 or 11 using their own legally obtained Xbox Live Arcade game files.

The project is unofficial and has no stated affiliation with Konami or Microsoft.
