Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Sales Reach Estimated 8.7 Million
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has sold an estimated 8.7 million copies worldwide, generating $366 million in revenue despite launching directly into Xbox Game Pass, according to new figures from market research firm Alinea Analytics.
The figures were published in an October 23 report by Alinea analyst Rhys Elliott, examining the commercial performance of recent Game of the Year winners.
Steam accounts for 58.8% of Expedition 33's estimated sales, followed by PlayStation 5 at 35.7%. Xbox represents just 5.5%, a considerably smaller share that Elliott attributes to the game's availability through Game Pass.
Alinea estimates that 4.3 million players accessed the RPG through Game Pass on Xbox consoles and PC. Nearly 700,000 subscribers played it through the service for the first time during 2026.
However, those players cannot automatically be counted as lost sales. It remains unclear how many would have purchased Expedition 33 at full price without a subscription.
The game's approximately 18-month Game Pass agreement ended on October 16, 2026. Elliott reported early signs of improving Xbox sales following its departure, although the available data is insufficient to establish a lasting trend.
Developed by French studio Sandfall Interactive and published by Kepler Interactive, Expedition 33 originally launched in April 2025 and went on to win Game of the Year at The Game Awards.
Its estimated sales now place it among the most commercially successful RPG releases of recent years.
Alinea's figures are independent market estimates, not official sales totals confirmed by Sandfall Interactive or Kepler Interactive.
