Cyberpunk 2077 Browser Port Launches as Fan-Made Project

An unofficial Cyberpunk 2077 browser project has appeared online, promising to bring CD Projekt RED's open-world RPG to modern web browsers without requiring a traditional game installation.

Created by independent developer omonkeyzz, the project is hosted at cyberpunk2077.lol and reportedly uses WebGPU to run graphics directly on the player's device rather than relying on cloud gaming.

The browser version is designed to load game assets progressively, with models, textures, and other resources downloaded as needed. Its first launch may take considerably longer because of asset downloads and shader compilation.

Early reports suggest that Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge are among the preferred browsers, while the developer has also claimed compatibility with some modern Android devices.

However, the project's functionality remains inconsistent. One published test reported downloading approximately 700MB of data before encountering a black screen on a system using integrated graphics.

The website has advertised a browser-based launch, although a working gameplay session could not be independently confirmed during our verification.

Unlike an official PC release, this is an experimental fan project with no announced involvement from CD Projekt RED. Its stability, performance, and compatibility across different devices remain uncertain.

The project's use of Cyberpunk 2077 branding and potentially copyrighted game assets could also raise legal questions, although no confirmed enforcement action against this specific project has been established.

For now, Cyberpunk 2077's browser experiment represents an ambitious but unverified alternative to traditional installation, rather than a proven replacement for the original game.
