Cyberpunk 2077 FSR 4.1 Test Shows Better Image Quality on Ally X

Cyberpunk 2077 is among the first games being tested with AMD FSR 4.1 on the ROG Xbox Ally X, following the release of a new preview graphics driver for ASUS handheld gaming devices on October 23, 2026.

An early user benchmark shared on Reddit reports noticeably improved image stability compared with FSR 2.1, although the newer upscaler introduces a small performance penalty.

Testing Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 at 1080p, using the Balanced preset and a 25W power limit, the user recorded approximately 53–54 FPS with FSR 4.1, compared with 56–57 FPS using FSR 2.1.

The difference amounts to roughly three frames per second, or 5%, in the tested scene. However, FSR 4.1 produced less shimmering and ghosting around thin objects such as railings and poles.

Results were less convincing at 720p, where the tester observed additional visual artifacts without a measurable performance advantage.

The findings follow ASUS's official announcement confirming that FSR 4.1 is available in preview for the ROG Xbox Ally X and X20.

The handheld implementation uses a lightweight neural network model designed for AMD's Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, reducing computational requirements compared with the original INT8 model.

Users can install the driver through Armoury Crate SE and enable FSR Upscaling through Command Center.

These early results suggest meaningful image-quality improvements, but they represent a single user test rather than a comprehensive performance review. Battery life, other power limits, and additional games remain untested.
