Denuvo Gets Court Approval to Identify Voices38

Denuvo has reportedly received court approval to request identifying information about Voices38, a figure known for bypassing the company's anti-tamper technology in PC games.

The decision follows a legal dispute in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, where Denuvo's parent company, Irdeto, is pursuing claims under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

According to TorrentFreak's report on the court proceedings, US District Judge Haywood Gilliam Jr. initially rejected the company's broad information requests on October 8 because they raised privacy concerns.

The original subpoenas contained 46 requests covering account details, payment information, login records, and extensive user activity.

Following the court's objections, Denuvo narrowed its demands to nine targeted requests directed at Discord, Reddit, and Valve, the company behind Steam.

The revised subpoenas seek information that could help establish the identity of Voices38, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, and IP addresses associated with specified accounts.

Denuvo also withdrew its requests for payment histories and login records, reducing the scope of the information it wants the platforms to disclose.

According to the reported court documents, the companies have until November 3, 2026, to respond to the approved requests.

The legal action represents another development in Denuvo's efforts to protect its anti-tamper technology, which publishers use to prevent unauthorized modifications and distribution of PC games.

However, the court's approval does not mean Voices38 has been identified. It only permits Denuvo to pursue specific account information through the legal process.

Whether the requested records will establish the identity of the person or people behind Voices38 remains uncertain.
