Diablo 5 Begins Cinematic Filming Ahead of 2029 Release

Blizzard Entertainment has started filming cinematic sequences for Diablo 5, marking another development milestone for the upcoming action RPG.

Neil David Carter, the cinematic director for the Diablo franchise, confirmed the news in an X post published on October 14, sharing a photograph of a prepared filming studio.

"First shoot #Diablo5," Carter wrote, without revealing additional details about the scenes being recorded.

The announcement follows Diablo 5's official reveal at BlizzCon 2026, where Blizzard introduced the next installment with a cinematic trailer. Gameplay footage has not yet been publicly shown.

The beginning of cinematic filming suggests that production of the game's story sequences is progressing, although it does not necessarily indicate that development is nearing completion.

Blizzard has not revealed the actors involved in the new recording sessions or provided details about the characters featured in the cinematics.

According to Blizzard's official announcement, Diablo 5 takes place in a version of Sanctuary where the heroes have fallen and Diablo has emerged victorious.

The game will introduce a new chapter in the franchise, with players exploring a world transformed by the Lord of Terror's victory.

Diablo 5 is currently scheduled for release in spring 2029. Blizzard has not announced a specific launch date.
