DolphinPS4 0.4.18 Adds Skylanders Support Without Figures

DolphinPS4 has received a new update that allows PlayStation 4 users to play supported Skylanders games without physical character figures, thanks to built-in Portal of Power emulation.

Developer iHaiDeeZ released version 0.4.18 on October 24, 2026, expanding the unofficial GameCube and Wii emulator with new Skylanders functionality and faster access to games stored on network shares.

According to the official DolphinPS4 v04.18 release notes, the update integrates a virtual Portal of Power directly into the emulator. The feature replaces the physical accessory normally required to recognize Skylanders characters.

The new Skylanders menu also allows users to create virtual figures, removing the need for physical toys when accessing supported characters.

Beyond Skylanders, DolphinPS4 v04.18 improves network-share performance. Games stored on shared network drives can load faster, while interrupted connections are automatically re-established.

These changes follow version 0.4.17, which introduced several rendering optimizations and experimental frame generation designed to improve the experience in demanding GameCube and Wii titles.

DolphinPS4 runs on homebrew-enabled PlayStation 4 consoles and uses Vulkan to render emulated games through the PS4 graphics hardware.

The project remains an unofficial adaptation of the open-source Dolphin emulator rather than a Sony-supported application.

Game compatibility and performance still vary considerably. The new Skylanders features expand accessory emulation, but the release notes do not establish that every Skylanders title runs flawlessly on PS4.

The project does not include copyrighted commercial game files.
