Dota 2 Pro Claims Police Made Him Play Match to Prove Identity
Professional Dota 2 player Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon has claimed that Malaysian police made him play an entire match to prove his identity after raiding his team's training facility in Kuala Lumpur.
The Thai player, who currently represents Xipto Esports, described the unusual incident in a Facebook post, claiming that officers entered the team's bootcamp, confiscated personal belongings, and handcuffed several players.
According to a report published by IGN, officers questioned the team about their presence in Malaysia and whether they were genuinely professional esports players.
23savage said one officer recognized Dota 2 and examined his Instagram account, where a photograph featuring Malaysian influencer Ms. Puiyi reportedly helped establish his identity.
However, the player claimed he was then asked to demonstrate his gaming skills in front of the officers.
Playing as Kez, 23savage reportedly completed a Dota 2 match with 32 kills, convincing the officers that he was a legitimate professional player. He claimed the team was subsequently released.
The player also alleged that officers took two jars of Nutella from the training facility before leaving.
The story quickly attracted attention online, with some fans questioning whether the incident actually happened. Despite the skepticism, 23savage maintained that his account was genuine.
Neither Malaysian police nor Xipto Esports has publicly confirmed the full details of the alleged incident.
Meanwhile, Xipto Esports recently won the EPL World Series Southeast Asia Season 18 tournament, continuing its competitive run in the region.
