Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 PC Port Adds New Modes and Campaigns
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 HD Collection has received a series of major updates for its unofficial native PC port, introducing Tag Team improvements, new game modes, expanded modding features, and experimental campaigns from other Dragon Ball games.
Developed by NovaPowers, the project uses the ReXGlue SDK to recompile the Xbox 360 version's original PowerPC code into native Windows and Linux applications without traditional console emulation.
According to the official GitHub release notes, version 1.5.0 introduced Dragon HUB, featuring redesigned backgrounds, character animations, ranking badges, and improved menu navigation.
The update also expanded Tag Team mode with teleport-based character switching, including support for computer-controlled fighters.
Another addition allows players to use modifications directly with their Xbox 360 ISO files, without manually extracting the game beforehand.
Experimental campaigns based on Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 and Infinite World are also included, alongside early versions of Hero Mode, Mission 100, and Legend of Mr. Satan.
More recent updates have continued improving these features. Version 1.5.1.4, released on October 21, adds further refinements to Budokai 2's board-game campaign, Infinite World's minigames, and Hero Mode's character customization system.
The latest build also introduces a performance mode for less powerful graphics cards and fixes crashes related to HD texture packs.
However, several features remain unfinished. Some additional characters still lack visual effects, while computers with dual-core processors may struggle to maintain 60 FPS.
The project supports Windows and Linux, with the latter using Vulkan for graphics rendering.
This remains an unofficial fan-developed PC port, with no affiliation with Bandai Namco or the original game's developers.
