DriveClub Gets Unofficial PC Port With 4K and 60 FPS
DriveClub, the PlayStation 4-exclusive racing game developed by Evolution Studios, has reportedly received an unofficial PC port capable of running on Windows with support for 4K resolution and frame rates of up to 60 FPS.
The project, known as DriveClub Recomp, is attributed to developer OverkillLabs3, who has reportedly released version 0.1.1 alongside its source code.
Unlike traditional PlayStation 4 emulation, the project reportedly executes the game's original x86-64 code directly on PC processors while recreating necessary system libraries and translating graphics operations to Vulkan.
The initial release is said to support the main menu, single-player races, photo mode, and save-game functionality. Players can also select different graphics presets, ranging from settings intended for handheld devices to higher-quality configurations.
Additional features reportedly include resolutions from 720p to 8K, ultrawide display support, adjustable field of view, and keyboard and controller compatibility.
According to performance figures attributed to the developer, DriveClub can approach 60 FPS at 4K on a system equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. However, these results have not been independently verified.
The project reportedly requires users to provide their own compatible DriveClub game files, including the original PS4 release and update 1.28.
Despite the progress, the early build still has limitations. Online functionality remains unavailable, while shader compilation may cause temporary stuttering during the first run of certain tracks. Performance can also decrease during races featuring multiple vehicles and demanding weather effects.
DriveClub originally launched in October 2014 and remained exclusive to PlayStation consoles. The unofficial PC project could offer another way to experience the racing game, although further testing is needed to establish its compatibility and stability.
Sony has not announced an official PC release of DriveClub.
