Elden Ring Sales Reach 36.4 Million Copies, Analyst Estimates

Elden Ring has sold an estimated 36.4 million copies and generated $2 billion in revenue, according to new figures from Alinea Analytics, highlighting the continued commercial success of FromSoftware's open-world RPG more than four years after its release.

In an October 22 report, Alinea's head of market analytics, Rhys Elliott, revealed that Steam accounts for 50% of estimated sales, followed by PlayStation 5 at 35% and Xbox at 15%.

Despite accounting for half of the copies sold, PlayStation and Xbox collectively generated 57.5% of the game's revenue. Elliott attributed the difference partly to regional pricing, noting that approximately 17.4% of Steam sales came from China, where the game costs considerably less than in the United States.

Elden Ring also continues to attract buyers in 2026. Alinea estimates that the game sold another two million copies this year, generating nearly $110 million in additional revenue.

Player engagement remains substantial. More than 9.8 million players have spent over 100 hours exploring the Lands Between, while nearly 3.5 million have unlocked every achievement or trophy.

Completion rates vary by platform, with 10.9% of PlayStation players earning the platinum trophy, compared with 10.5% on Steam and 3.9% on Xbox.

The report also estimates that Elden Ring Nightreign, the standalone multiplayer spin-off released in 2025, has sold 7.8 million copies and generated $282 million.

These figures are independent estimates rather than officially confirmed sales totals. Bandai Namco previously announced that the original Elden Ring had surpassed 30 million copies worldwide.
