Elden Ring Update 1.17.2 Fixes Weapon Bugs and Improves Online Security

FromSoftware has released Elden Ring Update 1.17.2, introducing several bug fixes involving weapons, armor, and character visuals, alongside additional network security improvements for PlayStation consoles.

The patch became available on October 20, 2026, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

According to the official patch notes published by Bandai Namco, the update focuses entirely on fixing existing issues and does not introduce any new gameplay content.

Elden Ring Update 1.17.2 Patch Notes

One of the most significant fixes addresses an exploit involving Piquebone Arrows and Fletched Piquebone Arrows. Previously, firing these arrows under specific conditions could cause unintended status buildup. Update 1.17.2 resolves this behavior.

The patch also corrects a visual issue that occurred when players equipped Leontiel's Greatsword in their right hand while using the Repeating Crossbow skill with their left hand. Under these conditions, the character's left-hand graphics could display incorrectly.

Another fix addresses an appearance bug involving the Gold Tattoo Chest armor when the Hide Helmet option was enabled.

Additionally, FromSoftware has corrected several text errors in the game's credits.

PlayStation Online Security Improvements

Beyond the general fixes, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players receive additional security improvements for Elden Ring's network features.

Bandai Namco has not provided technical details about these changes, but confirmed that they specifically apply to the PlayStation versions.

After installing the update, players should see the following version numbers on the game's title screen:

App Version: 1.17.2
Regulation Version: 1.17.3

The publisher also confirmed that installing Update 1.17.2 is mandatory for accessing Elden Ring's online features.

While the patch does not add new content, it addresses several issues affecting equipment behavior and helps maintain the game's online experience.
