Epic Games CEO Teases Major Changes for Fall Guys

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has revealed that Fall Guys is undergoing a major reworking process, suggesting that significant changes could be coming to the multiplayer game.

The announcement came after a social media user claimed that Disney had acquired Mediatonic, the studio behind Fall Guys, from Epic Games.

Responding in an October 17 post on X, Sweeney denied the acquisition rumor and encouraged players not to give up on the game.

He explained that a major retooling effort is already underway, with the goal of making new possibilities available for Fall Guys.

However, Sweeney did not explain what the changes would involve, whether they would affect the game's core mechanics, or when players could expect further announcements.

Originally released in August 2020, Fall Guys became a major multiplayer success thanks to its colorful obstacle courses and accessible competitive gameplay.

Epic Games acquired Mediatonic's parent company, Tonic Games Group, in 2021, before making Fall Guys free to play across multiple platforms in June 2022.

The game later expanded into the Fortnite ecosystem in August 2024, allowing creators to develop custom experiences using Fall Guys assets through Unreal Editor for Fortnite.

Despite these additions, some players have expressed concerns about the game's recent content updates and long-term direction.

Sweeney's latest comments indicate that Epic Games is continuing to invest in the future of Fall Guys rather than abandoning the title.

For now, the company has not announced a release window or specific features for the planned changes.
