Final Fantasy 7 Part 3 Will Offer Hard Mode From the Start

Square Enix is changing how difficulty works in the third installment of the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy, allowing players to select Hard Mode from the beginning rather than unlocking it after completing the main story.

Game director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed the change in a recent interview with Hardcore Gamer, explaining that the development team has redesigned the challenging experience for the trilogy's final chapter.

In Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Hard Mode becomes available after players finish the main campaign. It also introduces additional restrictions, including limitations on item usage.

The third game will take a different approach.

According to Hamaguchi, players will be able to select a harder difficulty immediately, but it will not function exactly like the Hard Mode featured in the previous two entries.

The director explained that the development team wants to offer a more flexible challenge that takes advantage of the expanded combat systems and tactical options introduced throughout the trilogy.

The game will also feature additional content after completing the main story, providing more activities for players who want to continue exploring and testing their abilities.

Square Enix is reportedly considering options that allow players to adjust enemy strength, although the exact mechanics have not been fully detailed.

The changes suggest that the final installment will place greater emphasis on player choice, allowing experienced fans to begin with a tougher challenge while preserving additional content for later playthroughs.

Square Enix has not yet announced an official release date for Final Fantasy 7 Part 3.
