Forza Motorsport 4 PC Recomp Supports 240 FPS and 5K
Forza Motorsport 4 has received an unofficial Windows PC port through static recompilation, bringing Turn 10 Studios' 2011 Xbox 360 racing simulator to modern computers with significant graphics and performance enhancements.
Developed by i2kiselev, FM4 Static Recomp uses the ShiftGlue SDK to translate the original Xbox 360 PowerPC code into native x86-64 instructions, with Vulkan handling graphics rendering.
According to the official FM4 Static Recomp GitHub repository, the project supports resolutions up to 5120×2880 and frame rates reaching 240 FPS, depending on hardware and display capabilities.
Version 0.3.0 introduces NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR 2, and FSR 3 upscaling. The developer also implemented game-specific motion reconstruction to improve image quality when using temporal upscalers.
Additional features include enhanced anti-aliasing, keyboard controls, customizable graphics settings, Disc 2 content, DLC installation, and support for external frame-generation tools.
Players can access an in-game graphics menu to adjust resolution, frame-rate limits, upscaling, and rendering options.
The developer reports more than twice Xenia's frame rate in comparable tests on the same computer, although these results have not been independently verified.
Race loading times and video memory usage have also been improved compared with the original ShiftGlue implementation.
Offline gameplay is reported working, but Xbox LIVE and Kinect functionality remain unsupported. Linux compatibility and racing wheel support are planned rather than available features.
The project requires Windows and files from a legally obtained copy of Forza Motorsport 4.
Development documentation also acknowledges AI assistance with coding, scripts, documentation, and reverse engineering.
FM4 Static Recomp remains experimental and is not affiliated with Microsoft or Turn 10 Studios.
