Gran Turismo 7 Reaches In-Game Stage on PC With SharpEmu PS5 Emulator
Gran Turismo 7 has reached an important compatibility milestone on PC through SharpEmu, an experimental PlayStation 5 emulator being developed for Windows, Linux, and macOS.
According to the official SharpEmu compatibility database, Gran Turismo 7 was reported as reaching the Ingame stage on Windows on October 19, 2026, using emulator version 0.0.6-mono.
The result marks progress for the open-source emulator, although it does not mean that Gran Turismo 7 is fully playable or performs smoothly on PC.
SharpEmu's compatibility system separates games into several categories, including Boots, Menus, Ingame, and Playable. The Ingame classification indicates that a title has reached gameplay but still suffers from significant problems.
This distinction is especially important for a technically demanding racing game such as Gran Turismo 7, which relies on complex graphics rendering, vehicle simulation, and other PlayStation-specific systems.
The official SharpEmu GitHub repository explains that the emulator can load PlayStation 5 executables, execute native CPU instructions, and partially handle GPU-related functionality.
SharpEmu uses Vulkan for graphics output on Windows and Linux, while macOS support relies on MoltenVK.
The project remains in an early development stage, with its creators prioritizing emulation accuracy and core system functionality over compatibility with individual games.
Recent development work has focused on improving graphics processing, system services, and other components required to run PlayStation 5 software.
SharpEmu is an independent, unofficial project and is not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment or Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital.
Players should also note that a compatibility report is not a guarantee of stable performance, complete rendering, or the ability to finish races.
For now, Gran Turismo 7's reported progress represents another technical milestone for PS5 emulation on PC rather than a practical alternative to playing the game on PlayStation hardware.
