GTA 6 Art Team Reportedly Grew 13 Times Larger Than GTA 5

Rockstar Games has significantly expanded its development workforce for GTA 6, with a new report suggesting that the game's art team is approximately 13 times larger than the one that worked on GTA 5.

According to an investigation by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, published on October 14, Rockstar has undergone major organizational changes while developing Grand Theft Auto VI, including expanding its workforce and restructuring production processes.

Rockstar's total employee count reportedly increased from approximately 2,400 in 2018 to 4,700 in 2026, nearly doubling over eight years as development of GTA 6 progressed.

One of the most notable changes involves the game's art production team. Reports citing Schreier's findings indicate that GTA 5 had approximately five or six artists in the comparable team, while GTA 6 has around 65, representing an increase of roughly 11 to 13 times.

The expansion reflects the scale of the visual production required for GTA 6, which features a detailed recreation of Vice City and the surrounding fictional state of Leonida.

Rockstar has also reportedly increased the number of producers responsible for coordinating development teams, improving communication, and managing the demands of a project involving thousands of employees.

The reported staffing figures have not been independently confirmed through an official Rockstar workforce breakdown.

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to the official Rockstar Games announcement.
