GTA 6 PS5 Pre-Orders Reportedly Reach 74% of Total Sales

Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders are reportedly heavily favoring PlayStation 5, with Sony's console accounting for approximately 74% of estimated digital purchases ahead of the game's November 19, 2026, launch.

According to market research firm Sensor Tower, GTA 6 has reached an estimated 6.45 million digital pre-orders across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, representing approximately $630 million in consumer spending.

The latest figures were reported by Insider Gaming, citing Sensor Tower's sales tracking data.

PlayStation 5 reportedly accounts for around 4.8 million pre-orders, worth an estimated $468 million. Xbox Series X|S represents the remaining 26%, with approximately 1.66 million pre-orders and $162 million in spending.

The estimates suggest that PlayStation players are placing nearly three digital pre-orders for every one recorded on Xbox.

Earlier Sensor Tower data, discussed in a GamesIndustry.biz analysis, placed GTA 6 at approximately 6.08 million pre-orders and $594 million in estimated spending as of October 13. PlayStation already held a 74% share at that point.

The research firm also compared the game's performance with other major releases. In the United States, GTA 6's digital pre-order volume was reportedly 148% higher than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 at a comparable point before launch.

However, these figures remain third-party estimates. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not publicly confirmed the reported totals or platform breakdown.

The estimates also exclude physical pre-orders and should not be interpreted as the publisher's confirmed net revenue.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
