GTA 6 Remains on Track for November 19 Release
Grand Theft Auto VI remains scheduled for November 19, 2026, despite renewed speculation about the game's development status following comments from Rockstar Games executives.
The discussion began after Bloomberg published an extensive report examining the development of GTA 6, including interviews with several senior Rockstar developers.
In Jason Schreier's original Bloomberg report, Rockstar development lead Phil Hooker explained that the studio continued making changes to the game during the final months of production.
Hooker described game development as an evolving process, explaining that even major projects rarely follow a completely fixed blueprint.
Some players interpreted those remarks as a potential indication that GTA 6 was unfinished or facing another delay. However, the interview did not announce any changes to the release schedule.
The report also detailed the challenges Rockstar encountered while developing the game's expansive open world, including the considerable resources required to create its large population of non-playable characters.
According to the developers, earlier delays allowed the team to meet its creative and technical goals rather than release a version that fell short of expectations.
Meanwhile, the official Rockstar Games website continues to list November 19, 2026, as the launch date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Rockstar has not announced a further postponement, although the company has not explicitly guaranteed that no additional changes to the schedule are possible.
With approximately one month remaining before release, GTA 6 is still officially on course for its planned November launch.
