GTA III Now Playable in Web Browsers on PC and Mobile

Grand Theft Auto III is playable directly in modern web browsers through an unofficial fan-made port, allowing players to explore Liberty City on PC and mobile devices without installing a traditional desktop application.

The browser version, known as GTA 3 Online, is hosted on Quenq and runs Rockstar Games' 2001 open-world classic using WebAssembly technology.

According to the project's official website, the browser edition supports keyboard and mouse controls, Xbox and PlayStation controllers, and touchscreen inputs on smartphones.

Despite its name, GTA 3 Online does not feature online multiplayer. It recreates the original single-player experience, including Claude's story, missions, vehicles, and Liberty City's three main districts.

The project uses technology associated with re3, a reverse-engineered recreation of GTA III's original game engine, adapted to run through WebAssembly and browser graphics APIs rather than conventional console emulation.

The browser downloads approximately 116MB of game data during initial loading, with cached files helping reduce loading times on subsequent visits.

An integrated Save Manager allows players to import compatible save files from existing PC or PlayStation 2 versions and export their browser progress.

Performance depends on the device and browser. Hardware acceleration is recommended, particularly on older computers and mobile devices.

The browser edition was already available in September 2026, making this an existing community project rather than a newly released port.

It is not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. The website serves copyrighted game content without publicly documented authorization, leaving the project's long-term availability uncertain.
