Hideo Kojima Visits Sony After PHYSINT Moves to Xbox
Hideo Kojima has visited Sony's headquarters in Tokyo, just weeks after PlayStation ended its involvement with PHYSINT and Xbox took over publishing duties for the upcoming espionage game.
The Metal Gear creator shared images from his visit on social media, attracting attention from fans who had questioned the future of his relationship with Sony.
According to Instant Gaming News, the visit comes after a major change in the development of PHYSINT, which was originally announced as a collaboration between Kojima Productions and PlayStation.
Sony withdrew from the project earlier this year, leaving Kojima Productions searching for another publishing partner. In September, Xbox officially confirmed that it would publish PHYSINT, expanding its existing partnership with the studio beyond the upcoming horror game OD.
Despite the change, Sony has maintained that its relationship with Kojima Productions remains strong.
In its September statement, PlayStation expressed continued admiration for Kojima's creative vision and indicated that it remained open to future collaborations with the independent developer.
Kojima's latest visit suggests that professional contact between the two sides continues, although neither company has announced a new project or revealed the purpose of the meeting.
PHYSINT remains in development under Xbox Game Studios, with no confirmed release date.
For now, Kojima's appearance at Sony headquarters offers a reminder that the end of one publishing agreement does not necessarily mean the end of a long-standing industry relationship.
