JDM: Ph4ntom Driver Announced as Supernatural Drift Racing Game
JDM: Ph4ntom Driver has officially been announced for PC, introducing a supernatural twist to the racing experience of JDM: Japanese Drift Master. Developed and published by Gaming Factory, the standalone spin-off combines arcade drifting, vehicle combat, and Japanese folklore in a redesigned open world.
According to GamingBolt, the announcement was accompanied by a teaser trailer showcasing the game's supernatural setting and action-focused driving mechanics.
The story takes place in an alternative version of Guntama, a fictional Japanese prefecture transformed into a corrupted Spirit World. Players must confront armies of supernatural creatures and eventually challenge Shouten Douji, the Demon King responsible for the region's destruction.
Unlike traditional racing games, JDM: Ph4ntom Driver makes the car the player's primary weapon. Driving mechanics combine drifting, nitro boosts, and direct vehicle attacks, allowing players to overcome enemies without conventional firearms.
The game also introduces Hakai, a supernatural power that enhances combat abilities. Players can chain driving maneuvers and attacks to increase their Hakai score while exploring the open world.
According to the game's official Steam page, players will be able to discover additional cars and parts, customize their vehicles, and upgrade both driving performance and combat capabilities.
JDM: Ph4ntom Driver will feature a single-player campaign presented through hand-drawn manga sequences and dialogue. Gaming Factory has also confirmed plans for multiplayer modes at launch.
The game is currently in development for PC and can already be added to wishlists on Steam. An official release date has not yet been announced.
