Katana ZERO DLC Grows Into Sequel-Sized Expansion
Katana ZERO developer Justin Stander has shared a new update on the game's long-awaited DLC, revealing that the expansion has grown to the size of a full sequel and will feature more than 30 new music tracks.
In a message shared on October 22, 2026, Stander confirmed that development is continuing and that the project has expanded significantly beyond its original scope.
The announcement was widely shared by fans in the Katana ZERO community on Reddit, where players welcomed the update after years of waiting.
Originally released in April 2019, Katana ZERO is a neo-noir action platformer known for its fast-paced combat, time-manipulation mechanics, and cinematic storytelling.
The upcoming expansion was initially planned as a smaller addition, but its scope has repeatedly increased throughout development.
In 2021, Stander revealed that the DLC had grown to approximately six times its originally planned size, introducing additional levels, enemies, bosses, mechanics, and story content.
A new trailer released during the Triple-i Initiative in April 2025 offered another look at the expansion, confirming that the project remained in active development.
Despite its increasingly ambitious scale, the DLC is still expected to remain free for existing Katana ZERO owners, as previously confirmed by the developer.
However, Stander has not announced an official release date, and the latest update does not establish when development will be completed.
For now, the confirmation of sequel-sized content and more than 30 new music tracks suggests that the expansion will offer a substantially larger experience than originally anticipated.
