KytyPS5 Emulator May Get PS5-Style Interface Redesign
The KytyPS5 emulator could receive a major interface redesign inspired by the PlayStation 5's home screen, bringing a more console-like experience to its game launcher.
Developer Pipe530 submitted the proposed changes through pull request #1691 on the project's official GitHub repository, introducing a new horizontal game library layout.
The redesigned interface replaces the traditional grid with an optional horizontal carousel that resembles the PS5's navigation system.
When users select a game, its tile expands to display the title's background artwork, using the pic0 image associated with the game.
The proposal also introduces additional library management features, including trophy progress indicators, game information panels, launch controls, and title-specific settings.
Another addition is support for background music. When a game is selected, the launcher can play its associated snd0.at9 audio track, with smooth fading effects when playback stops.
Users would also be able to choose between system, dark, and light interface themes.
The redesign includes automatic window management, allowing the launcher to minimize when a game starts and return when the session ends.
However, the proposed interface changes have not yet been merged into KytyPS5's main development branch, and no official release date has been announced.
KytyPS5 remains an experimental, open-source PlayStation 5 emulator for Windows and Linux, with additional experimental support for macOS.
Although the redesigned launcher could improve usability, it does not directly increase game compatibility or performance.
The development team continues working on technical improvements, including graphics rendering, stability, and support for additional PS5 games.
