Mafia The Old Country DLSS 5 Mod Changes Lighting and Faces

Mafia: The Old Country is attracting attention after a player demonstrated how NVIDIA DLSS 5 can transform the game's lighting, character faces, and overall visual presentation through unofficial modding tools.

The demonstration appeared in an original Reddit post on October 23, 2026, showing the game running with DLSS 5 and OptiScaler on a laptop equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti.

According to the player, the demonstration used 4K output and an older DLSS 5 model, version 310.8.0, with a single rendering pass.

The resulting images show noticeably different lighting, skin shading, and facial details compared with the game's conventional rendering.

However, reactions have been mixed. Some players praised the more cinematic appearance, while others criticized the altered facial features and questioned whether the AI-generated details improved the original artistic presentation.

NVIDIA officially introduced DLSS 5 in September 2026, bringing 3D-guided neural rendering to supported GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards.

Unlike conventional upscaling, the technology uses AI to enhance the appearance of lighting and materials, including skin, hair, and environmental surfaces.

Mafia: The Old Country originally launched with DLSS 4 technologies, including Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation.

The latest demonstration does not represent an official DLSS 5 update from Hangar 13 or 2K.

Instead, it highlights how enthusiasts are experimenting with third-party tools to introduce newer rendering techniques into existing PC games.

Performance results and visual quality may vary depending on hardware, modifications, and rendering settings.
