Marvel Rivals Introduces Harsher Penalties for Toxic Chat

NetEase Games has announced stricter penalties for inappropriate behavior in Marvel Rivals, targeting players who repeatedly engage in harassment, insults, and abusive communication through text or voice chat.

In an official statement published on October 16, 2026, the development team confirmed that it has strengthened its disciplinary measures, with more serious consequences for severe or repeated violations.

According to NetEase, penalties will depend on the nature and severity of each offense, as well as a player's previous disciplinary record.

The company has also published detailed text and voice chat moderation guidelines, explaining how violations are detected and what consequences players may face.

Under the updated rules, penalties range from formal warnings to text and voice chat restrictions lasting up to 365 days. Repeated violations can also result in temporary matchmaking restrictions, while particularly serious cases may lead to long-term account bans.

Marvel Rivals uses automated detection systems to monitor inappropriate communication, including contextual analysis of text messages and voice chat. However, NetEase says flagged content is manually reviewed before disciplinary action is taken.

The developer also plans to continue improving its detection systems using verified reports and player feedback.

NetEase emphasized that competitive gaming does not justify abusive behavior and encouraged players to report violations through the game's built-in reporting tools.

The announcement reinforces the studio's ongoing efforts to improve communication between teammates and maintain a more welcoming competitive environment in Marvel Rivals.
