Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Gets Free Multiplayer Mod Supporting Up to 16 Players
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has received a new fan-made multiplayer mod for PC, allowing up to 16 players to explore New York City together in a game originally designed as a single-player experience.
The project was developed by members of the PC Brazil modding community, who modified the game's systems to support online cooperative gameplay without official involvement from Insomniac Games.
According to IXBT Games, the mod is now publicly available for PC players and supports several of the game's existing mechanics.
Players can swing freely through New York, explore the open world together, and participate in activities involving crimes throughout the city.
However, the multiplayer experience remains limited when it comes to story progression. Most main campaign missions are not currently compatible with cooperative play, although some main and side missions have experimental support.
The development team, including BiladeiroSupreme, Pcniadol, Jimmy TheG, and Falcon, has warned that the project is still in an early stage. Players may encounter technical issues, unexpected bugs, and compatibility problems.
A gameplay demonstration published on YouTube shows multiple Spider-Man characters moving around the city together, offering an early look at how the multiplayer system works.
The mod is distributed for free through Nexus Mods, giving PC players an unofficial way to experience Marvel's Spider-Man 2 with friends.
Insomniac Games has not released an official multiplayer mode for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and this community project remains separate from the game's original development.
