Mass Effect 5 Fans Launch Petition to Save Canceled Game

Mass Effect 5 fans have launched a petition urging Electronic Arts to reconsider the cancellation of the next installment and preserve the franchise's future following the closure of BioWare.

The campaign, known as #SaveMassEffect, began on October 21, 2026, shortly after BioWare confirmed that its operations were ending and development of the next Mass Effect game had been canceled.

According to the original Change.org petition, supporters are calling on EA to resume development with sufficient funding, experienced developers, and the time needed to deliver a new entry worthy of the series.

Alternatively, fans want EA to consider licensing the Mass Effect franchise to another studio capable of continuing the science-fiction RPG universe.

The movement has also gained attention on Reddit, where players are encouraging others to share the #SaveMassEffect hashtag, contact EA, and support the campaign through social media.

In its official statement, BioWare confirmed its closure after more than three decades of game development, bringing an end to the studio responsible for Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and several influential RPG franchises.

The cancellation has left the future of Mass Effect uncertain, particularly after years of anticipation surrounding the next installment.

Although the petition demonstrates continued interest in the franchise, EA has not announced plans to reverse the cancellation, restart development, or transfer the intellectual property to another developer.

For now, #SaveMassEffect remains a community-led campaign seeking to convince Electronic Arts that the series still deserves a future beyond BioWare's closure.
