Metro Redux Gets Surprise DLSS 5 Support in Next-Gen Update

Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux have received NVIDIA DLSS 5 Neural Rendering support through their free next-gen PC update, despite developer 4A Games leaving the feature out of its official patch notes.

Released on October 22, 2026, the update introduces a DLSS-NR option in the graphics settings, allowing compatible NVIDIA hardware to use AI-powered neural rendering to enhance lighting and material appearance.

The feature was identified by hardware researcher Renan Maniero, who shared his findings on X, including the presence of a DLSS 5 DLL matching the version used in NBA 2K27.

Independent testing by Overclock3D also confirmed that DLSS Neural Rendering is available in both Redux games. However, 4A Games' official documentation mentions only general DLSS support, without specifically announcing DLSS 5.

According to the official Metro Redux patch notes, the update also introduces uncapped frame rates, AMD FSR, 4A TSR, Screen Space Global Illumination, improved geometry, higher-resolution textures, and updated materials.

Additional improvements include spatial audio, better animations, controller enhancements, and fixes for crashes, corrupted saves, and problems affecting modern PC hardware.

DLSS 5 Neural Rendering requires compatible NVIDIA hardware and must be used alongside DLSS. It is separate from traditional upscaling and does not automatically increase frame rates.

The update is available free to eligible existing owners on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are scheduled for October 29.

Although the new rendering option has been independently verified, 4A Games has not formally identified it as DLSS 5 in its release notes.
