Metro Redux Next-Gen Update Adds 4K and DLSS Support on PC

Deep Silver and 4A Games have released the free Metro Redux Next-Gen Update for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux on PC, introducing major graphical improvements, modern upscaling technology, and numerous technical fixes.

Available from October 22, 2026, through Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, the update enhances both classic first-person shooters without changing their original gameplay experience.

According to the official Deep Silver announcement, the upgrade introduces higher-resolution textures, improved lighting and shadows, enhanced animations, and more detailed environments.

PC players can now experience both games at 4K resolution with uncapped frame rates, alongside NVIDIA DLSS support and spatial audio improvements.

The update also addresses various technical issues affecting modern hardware, including compatibility problems, stability concerns, and gameplay bugs reported by the community.

Unlike a complete remake or remaster, the upgrade preserves the original Metro Redux visual identity while improving its presentation and performance.

Deep Silver has also confirmed that the update does not include ray tracing, as implementing the technology would require substantial changes to the existing rendering systems.

Existing owners can access the upgrade for free.

PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S versions are scheduled to receive the update on October 29, featuring native 4K at 60 FPS or upscaled 4K at 120 FPS on compatible displays.

The release arrives ahead of Metro 2039, the next mainline installment, which is scheduled to launch on February 4, 2027.
