Modern Warfare 4 Pays Tribute to Vince Zampella in Credits

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 pays tribute to the late Vince Zampella, co-creator of the Call of Duty franchise and co-founder of Infinity Ward, alongside three other developers who contributed to the series.

Players who complete the game's campaign will see a special In Memoriam section before the main credits, honoring Reiner Yang, Matt Canale, Preetam Raj Bordoloi, and Vince Zampella.

The tribute was also highlighted by The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley on X, who shared an image of the dedication to Zampella.

Zampella helped establish Infinity Ward alongside Jason West, with the studio releasing the original Call of Duty in 2003.

He later played an important role in shaping the Modern Warfare franchise before leaving Activision in 2010.

Following his departure, Zampella co-founded Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Titanfall, Apex Legends, and the Star Wars Jedi series.

He subsequently took on major leadership responsibilities at Electronic Arts, including overseeing the Battlefield franchise.

Zampella died in December 2025 at the age of 55 following a car accident in California.

Modern Warfare 4 also recognizes three other developers whose contributions helped shape the Call of Duty series.

Preetam Raj Bordoloi worked on multiple Call of Duty titles, while Matt Canale contributed to Infinity Ward projects including Call of Duty: Ghosts and Warzone Mobile.

The tribute appears at the beginning of the game's closing credits, giving the developers a dedicated moment of recognition before the production team is listed.

Modern Warfare 4's campaign became available through early access on October 16, ahead of the game's full launch on October 23, 2026.
