Modern Warfare 4 Pushes Call of Duty Past 108,000 Steam Players

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has helped drive a major increase in player activity on Steam, with the franchise's shared launcher surpassing 108,000 concurrent players during the game's campaign early access period.

According to SteamDB's live player statistics, the Call of Duty application reached a 24-hour peak of 108,551 concurrent players on October 17, 2026.

The milestone comes just one day after Activision opened Modern Warfare 4's campaign to eligible digital preorder customers, ahead of the game's full launch on October 23.

The figure has attracted attention because it reportedly exceeds the Steam player peak associated with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's launch.

However, an important distinction applies to these statistics. SteamDB tracks the shared Call of Duty application, which supports Modern Warfare 4, Black Ops 7, and Warzone. As a result, the 108,551 figure does not represent players exclusively experiencing Modern Warfare 4's campaign.

The early response to the new game has also been encouraging. Its official Steam store page shows more than 1,000 user reviews, with approximately 86% recommending the game.

These reviews primarily reflect the early-access experience, meaning the overall rating could change once multiplayer and other content become available to the wider audience.

Modern Warfare 4's campaign launch demonstrates renewed interest in the franchise on PC, although a clearer picture of its commercial performance and player retention will emerge after the full release.

The recorded player count also excludes users on Battle.net, PlayStation, and Xbox.
