NBA Street Vol. 2 PC Port Adds 6-Player Online Multiplayer

NBA Street Vol. 2 is being rebuilt for Windows through an unofficial fan project called Streetball Revival, introducing six-player online multiplayer to EA's 2003 arcade basketball game.

Developed by Vj, known online as luckvj, the project recreates the original PlayStation 2 game using a custom engine written in Rust. Unlike static recompilation projects, it does not translate the original game's executable into native PC code.

Instead, the developer is rebuilding gameplay systems and comparing their behavior against recorded matches, emulator testing, and the original program code.

The official Streetball Revival GitHub repository confirms support for online 3v3 matches, alongside traditional 1v1 multiplayer. Players can host private sessions, share join codes, and connect over local networks or the internet.

Computer-controlled teammates can fill empty positions, while local multiplayer supports up to four players on one PC.

The public beta also includes Be A Legend, League Challenge, Street School, Create A Baller, team creation, and customizable Pick Up Games.

However, online multiplayer remains experimental. The developer warns that matches may experience disconnections, synchronization problems, or lobby issues.

Gameplay accuracy is another work in progress. The project's comparison checklist currently tracks 211 selected behaviors, with 168 matched, 24 known differences, and 19 awaiting testing. Remaining issues include defensive AI, lighting, animations, and camera behavior.

Streetball Revival requires a legally obtained copy of the USA PlayStation 2 release, identified as SLUS-20651. The project does not distribute the original game's assets.

It is an unofficial remake unaffiliated with EA Sports.
