Need for Speed Carbon Android Port Runs at 1080p and 60 FPS

Need for Speed Carbon has received an unofficial Android port based on the Xbox 360 version, with an experimental build reportedly running at approximately 60 FPS on a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra at resolutions up to 1080p.

The fan-made project, developed by codepdbh, uses static recompilation technology to translate the original Xbox 360 game's PowerPC code into C++, allowing it to run natively on ARM64 Android devices without emulating the entire console.

According to the developer's official GitHub repository, the port uses the Vulkan-based renderer from the NFSMW Android Evolved project to display vehicles, environments, menus, and cutscenes.

Testing on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, equipped with an Adreno 830 GPU, demonstrated approximately 60 FPS at both 720p and 1080p. However, occasional stuttering remains, and performance on other devices has not been fully verified.

The Android version supports customizable touchscreen controls and Bluetooth controllers. Players can also adjust internal resolution, frame rate limits, and other graphics settings.

Minimum requirements include Android 8.0, a 64-bit ARM processor, Vulkan 1.1 with the necessary graphics features, and approximately 6 GB of free storage.

The project requires players to provide their own compatible Xbox 360 game files, specifically from the tested English PAL release. The APK does not include copyrighted game assets, and the original PC version is not supported.

Although the port already renders the game's main visual elements, complete races, save functionality, and wider device compatibility still require additional testing.

The Need for Speed Carbon Android port remains an independent community project and is not officially supported by Electronic Arts.
