Nexus Mods Warns Gears of War: E-Day Mod Creator
Nexus Mods has reportedly issued a warning to the creator of a Gears of War: E-Day modification after the developer shared alternative download links following the mod's removal from the platform.
The modification, titled Mags "Beep Bop" Carter, replaces 2,967 English dialogue recordings for the character Mags Carter with robotic beeps, whistles, and other humorous sounds.
Created by a modder known as SlayerOfThunder, the project was designed as a comedic alternative to the character's original voice lines. The replacement audio follows the timing of the original dialogue, while other characters' voices remain unchanged.
According to IXBT Games, the modification was removed from Nexus Mods, prompting discussion among players about the platform's moderation policies.
The creator subsequently directed users toward alternative websites where the modification could still be downloaded.
The reported warning concerned links to external mod-hosting platforms, including Ayaka Mods and DEG Mods, rather than a newly announced penalty against the creator.
Nexus Mods reportedly explained that links to websites hosting material incompatible with its rules may be restricted. The message was described as an informal warning, with no additional disciplinary action planned.
However, the precise circumstances surrounding the removal remain unclear.
The modification's Nexus Mods page was still accessible when checked, listing the replacement audio files and installation information.
The incident has prompted renewed discussion about how mod-hosting platforms moderate user-created content and handle links to alternative download services.
