NFS Most Wanted 2005 Now Runs in Browsers With Online Multiplayer

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) is now playable directly in modern web browsers through Most Wanted Online, an unofficial multiplayer project that allows players to race, explore Rockport, and escape police pursuits together.

The browser version expands the classic racing experience with shared open-world gameplay, online competitions, and cross-device support without requiring a traditional game installation.

According to the Most Wanted Online development team, players can participate in races with up to eight competitors, explore Rockport in multiplayer Free Roam, and join community-hosted servers.

The project also includes Cops vs. Racers activities, online leaderboards, player profiles, and customizable vehicles.

Unlike traditional cloud gaming, the browser version runs locally on compatible devices. Game files are downloaded progressively and cached for future sessions, with the initial download requiring approximately 2GB.

Players can access the experience through Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on supported computers, iPhones, iPads, and Android devices.

Keyboard, touchscreen, and controller inputs are supported. Online multiplayer requires an account, while single-player progress can be stored locally or synchronized between devices.

Recent updates have introduced additional vehicle customization, improved multiplayer stability, and faster browser loading.

The project also supports a separate Windows client for players who prefer a traditional desktop experience.

However, performance depends on hardware and browser compatibility, particularly on mobile devices.

Most Wanted Online is an independent fan project that began in 2017 and continues receiving updates. It is not affiliated with Electronic Arts or the original developer, EA Black Box.
