NVIDIA Denies RTX 5090 Discontinuation Rumors, Confirms Shipments

NVIDIA has denied recent reports claiming that the GeForce RTX 5090 has been discontinued, confirming that its flagship gaming graphics card will continue shipping despite ongoing supply constraints.

Jeff Fisher, NVIDIA's senior vice president of personal computing, addressed the rumors during the RTX Spark launch event in Taipei on October 16, 2026.

According to the original report from Taiwan's Central News Agency, Fisher rejected claims that the RTX 5090 had reached the end of its production cycle, describing the graphics card as an important product for NVIDIA.

He also acknowledged that supply chain capacity remains constrained, although the company is continuing its efforts to bring products to market.

The clarification follows speculation that NVIDIA had stopped allocating its GB202 graphics chips to the GeForce RTX 5090, potentially redirecting production toward professional RTX PRO products.

Those rumors intensified after the RTX 5090 became increasingly difficult to find at major retailers. Some stores removed individual models from their listings, while others reported limited or unavailable inventory.

However, Fisher's comments indicate that NVIDIA has not officially abandoned the RTX 5090 or its ongoing supply commitments.

The distinction between continued shipments and retail availability remains important. Even if NVIDIA continues supplying its partners, limited production capacity could prevent the graphics card from returning to widespread availability in the near future.

For PC gamers planning to purchase NVIDIA's flagship GPU, the statement offers reassurance that the RTX 5090 has not officially reached the end of its life, although questions surrounding availability and pricing remain unresolved.
