NVIDIA GeForce 621.12 Hotfix Fixes RTX 50 Black Screens

NVIDIA has released GeForce Hotfix Driver 621.12 to address video playback freezes and temporary black screens affecting some GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards following the installation of driver 621.01.

The update arrived on October 27, 2026, six days after the previous Game Ready driver introduced display problems reported by users.

According to NVIDIA's official Hotfix 621.12 support page, the new driver addresses four specific issues affecting GeForce GPUs, RTX Spark systems, and selected laptops.

The primary fix targets video playback failures that could cause applications to freeze or connected monitors to temporarily display a black screen. Reports involved browsers such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, alongside media players including VLC.

NVIDIA also addresses crashes in Unreal Engine 5.8 when Ray Lighting Mode is configured to Hit Lighting. Unlike the video playback issue, this correction is not described as exclusive to RTX 50 Series hardware.

Two additional fixes target display problems on specific devices.

RTX Spark systems receive a correction for display corruption when an HDMI monitor is connected through a StarTech Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI 2.0 adapter.

The update also resolves intermittent screen flickering reported on MSI N16 Flip laptops.

GeForce Hotfix 621.12 is an optional beta release based on the existing Game Ready driver. It undergoes a shorter validation process than NVIDIA's regular WHQL-certified releases.

The company plans to incorporate these corrections into a future standard driver update.

The release focuses on stability and compatibility rather than introducing new gaming features or documented performance improvements.
