NVIDIA RTX 5090 Orders Reportedly Blocked for Board Partners

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5090 is facing fresh supply concerns after a graphics card manufacturer claimed it can no longer place orders for the GPU and memory packages required to build the flagship gaming card.

German overclocker Roman Hartung, known as der8auer, detailed the situation in an October 26 investigation published on his YouTube channel, following conversations with NVIDIA and industry suppliers.

An unnamed NVIDIA board partner told Hartung that it cannot currently order GB202 processors bundled with 32GB of GDDR7 memory. Unlike previous shortages, the manufacturer cannot even submit backorders.

The partner has received no official end-of-life notification and does not know whether ordering will resume.

Hartung also contacted a graphics card cooling supplier. According to that source, two manufacturers have significantly reduced their projected RTX 5090 cooler orders for the first quarter of 2027 compared with the third quarter of 2026.

The supplier reported receiving no RTX 5090 cooler orders for the second quarter of 2027.

NVIDIA disputes suggestions that the RTX 5090 has been discontinued. The company reiterated that production continues and that it intends to keep shipping the card despite supply-chain constraints.

Earlier reports indicated that new GB202 allocations for consumer graphics cards had been reduced, while RTX 5090 listings disappeared from NVIDIA's US marketplace.

However, the latest evidence comes from individual supply-chain sources and does not establish that every board partner faces identical restrictions.

For PC gamers, the immediate concern is availability. Even without an official discontinuation, limited component allocations could restrict future RTX 5090 stock.
