Oblivion Remastered AI Mod Boosts FPS by Up to 30%
A new AI-assisted mod for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered reportedly improves PC performance by around 30% in open-world areas while significantly reducing stuttering without lowering the game's graphics quality.
The unofficial modification, called Oblivion Remastered Performance Fix, was created by developer LTSharpe26 and released on Nexus Mods on October 17, 2026.
According to the developer's original GitHub documentation, Anthropic's Claude AI model helped reverse-engineer the game's code, identify performance problems, and develop approximately 40 fixes.
The developer directed the process, made implementation decisions, and tested the resulting builds.
The mod addresses several CPU-related bottlenecks in the game's engine, including rendering operations, character processing, and tasks that previously placed excessive workloads on individual processor threads.
By optimizing these operations, the modification aims to improve performance while preserving the game's existing visual quality, including its lighting and rendering settings.
The developer reports approximately 30% higher average frame rates in open-world environments and around 50% better 1% low FPS, a measurement that reflects performance during slower frames.
These improvements could make exploration and busy locations feel smoother, particularly on systems limited by CPU performance.
The mod also includes adjustments to frame generation and supports AMD FSR 3.1.4 Frame Generation when the required files are installed.
However, the project remains in beta, and its reported performance improvements have not been independently confirmed across a wide range of PC configurations.
The developer's documentation notes that testing was initially conducted on a system equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor and Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card.
Oblivion Remastered Performance Fix is available for free through Nexus Mods, with its source code publicly accessible on GitHub.
