Phantom Blade Zero Creator Discusses Sequels and DLC

S-Game founder and Phantom Blade Zero director Soulframe Liang has discussed the possibility of expanding the action RPG through future DLC and sequels, although the studio remains focused on delivering a complete experience at launch.

In an interview with eXputer, Liang explained that the Phantom Blade universe contains numerous characters and storylines that cannot all fit into the upcoming game.

Rather than relying on downloadable content to complete the main story, the developer wants Phantom Blade Zero to offer enough content for players to enjoy the full experience without additional purchases.

However, Liang acknowledged that the studio has more stories to explore, leaving the door open for potential expansions and follow-up games.

The director also discussed the possibility of incorporating traditional 2D animation into selected story sequences.

Such animation could be used for flashbacks, memories, and supernatural scenes, creating a visual contrast with the game's realistic presentation.

These ideas build on the franchise's existing animated material, including a short film exploring the complicated relationship between Soul and Zuo Shang.

Despite the studio's interest in expanding the universe, no specific Phantom Blade Zero sequel or DLC expansion has been officially announced.

Phantom Blade Zero is scheduled to launch on October 29, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC.
