RecompLauncher Brings Native PC Game Ports Into One Hub
A new PC gaming website called RecompLauncher has launched, bringing together unofficial native ports of classic console games in one searchable catalog, with a dedicated desktop launcher planned for a later release.
The project was announced on October 26, 2026, as an expansion of RecompStore, an existing homebrew application for modified PlayStation 5 consoles.
In the developer's original Reddit announcement, the creator confirmed that the PC catalog is available while its native launcher remains under development.
The service is designed to help players discover games that have been brought to modern computers through static recompilation, decompilation, and other community porting projects.
Rather than distributing commercial games, the catalog directs users toward the original development repositories, making it easier to locate projects and follow their progress.
The PC expansion was initially introduced under the RecompStore name, but its creator changed the branding to RecompLauncher after community feedback about the term "store."
The developer also acknowledged existing alternatives, including Quiver, while outlining plans for an integrated launcher intended to simplify managing native game ports.
However, the planned desktop application has not received a confirmed release date, and its proposed installation and management features should not be treated as available yet.
The PC project is separate from the existing PS5 application. Individual ports may require users to provide legally obtained game assets, and compatibility depends on each project's development status.
RecompLauncher is currently best understood as a discovery platform rather than a finished all-in-one PC launcher.
