Roblox Games Will Soon Run in Browsers Without Downloads

Roblox is preparing to let players launch games directly in a web browser without installing its desktop application, marking a significant change in how users access the platform.

The feature was announced during the Roblox Developers Conference on September 11, 2026, as part of the company's broader Roblox Everywhere initiative.

According to the official Roblox announcement, browser-based gameplay is scheduled to become available by the end of 2026, initially through Google Chrome.

Players will be able to open a game's Experience Details Page and start playing within the browser, eliminating the separate installation process currently required on desktop computers.

Roblox also intends to support direct links shared through search engines, YouTube, social media, and other websites, allowing users to enter supported experiences without first launching a dedicated application.

Additional browser compatibility is planned, although the company has not confirmed which browsers will be supported next or provided individual release dates.

The announcement forms part of a larger effort to expand access to Roblox experiences across different devices and platforms. Developers will also gain opportunities to distribute certain experiences as standalone applications.

Separately, Roblox plans to introduce offline single-player experiences in mid-2027, allowing supported games to function without a continuous internet connection.

As of October 28, 2026, Roblox has not confirmed a general public launch of its browser player. Its existing support documentation still describes installing Roblox Player to launch experiences on desktop.

The upcoming feature is therefore an officially announced capability, not a universally available browser version of Roblox.
