ShadowMountPlus 1.7 Beta Changes PS5 Game Backup Mounting
ShadowMountPlus 1.7 introduces major changes to how game backups are mounted and managed on jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles, with a redesigned runtime, expanded storage support, and new library management features.
Developer drakmor has released several beta builds, with 1.7beta8 arriving on October 26, 2026.
According to the official ShadowMountPlus release notes, the biggest architectural change is a new SceShellCore-based runtime that prepares game mounts when applications launch and releases resources after they exit.
This approach is designed to reduce leftover mount layers when switching between games and improve handling of application transitions, suspension, and shutdown.
The update also introduces an image index supporting up to 8,192 games across 2,048 images, alongside faster library scanning and improved USB recovery.
Storage improvements include optimized mounting profiles for selected exFAT, UFS, and PFS image configurations. However, UFS remains the recommended format, while PFS support is still experimental.
The fakelib system now supports combined global and per-game overlays, configurable priorities, emulator file replacement, and individual compatibility modes.
The latest beta additionally redesigns the web interface for television screens and gamepad navigation. It introduces PKG installation management, patch and DLC information, backport controls, and PS4 game installation from supported images or folders.
ShadowMountPlus 1.7 supports compatible jailbroken PS5 firmware up to 13.60, subject to its required homebrew environment.
Despite these improvements, the developer warns that mounting images can still cause shutdown problems or internal storage corruption, particularly on older firmware.
Users should therefore treat the 1.7 branch as experimental rather than a fully stable release.
